20 PLACES TO DINE IN LAGOS

Eating and dining at restaurants are one of the many things Lagosians love to do. There are numerous of places to wine and dine in Lagos. Every corner you turn, there is always some form of outlet selling food. From the local Mama Put to the fast food joints and exquisite restaurants, you can never be out of options with the variety of cuisines available.

In no particular order, below are 20 restaurants that I’ve dined at in Lagos:

1. Yellow Chilli Restaurant

Address: 27 Oju Olobun Close, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

The semolina and egusi was a great combo and tasted authentic! The food arrived within the given waiting time as this is not always the case in some restaurants in Lagos.

2. Shiro Lagos

Address: Water Corporation Rd (near Landmark centre), Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Overall, the food was great. The spring rolls were nice and crispy and the prawns were scrumptious and juicy. Their service was of a high standard.

3. Salma’s Authentic Lebanese Cuisine

Address: 20-24 Ozumba Mbadiwe Rd, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

The golden prawns were nice and succulent. The pina colada was too frothy and the fried ice-cream didn’t sit well with my taste buds. All in all, the food was presented very well and their service was fantastic!

4. La Veranda Italian Cuisine

Address: 17 Oju Olobun Close (located inside the blowfish hotel), Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Carbonara with Tagliatelle pasta

The pasta was made just right! Not too soft and not too hard. It was a nice dish and the service was fairly ok.

5. Sugarcane

Address: 6A Ologun Agbaje St, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Small chop platter

The small chops platter was Amaaazingg!!! 10/10 for the food but 5/10 for the service, as the food took forever to arrive.

6. Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant

Address: 25B Glover Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria

Overall, the food was satisfactory and edible. The service was really good and the staff were polite and attentive.

7. L’afric Restaurant & Bar

Address: 1 Adeola Hopewell St, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

The seafood okra soup was pleasant and filling. The prawns were juicy and succulent. Their service was reasonable and the staff were polite.

8. Maroccaine Restaurant & Bar

Address: 317B Akin Ogunlewe street (off Ligali Ayorinde St), Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Special Fried Rice with beef mix

The dish was delish and the beef mix had the right amount of spice. However the customer service was poor and the staff were discourteous and ill-mannered.

9. Brass & Copper

Address: 1 Olubunmi Owa St, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, Nigeria

The seafood pasta was flavoursome and the Chapman drink was refreshing. I expected more prawns in the pasta as the dish was quite pricey (₦7500) for just 2 pieces of prawn. Overall, their customer service was satisfactory.

10. Ocean Basket

Address: 35 Akin Adesola St, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

Their garlic bread was probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The chips and battered fish served in the platter was drenched in oil, but the calamari and prawns were ok. The service was decent and the staff were well-mannered.

11. The House Café

Address: 12 Victoria Arobieke St, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria

The meaty pizza was delicious!! The crust was not too thick and the toppings were a great blend. The pasta was average but well presented.

12. Jamski

Address: 8a Ologun Agbaje St, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria

This dish was finger-licking good!! The oxtail was nice and soft and the plantain was fried just right. Will definitely be visiting again.

13. Thai Thai

Address: Apartment 3, 2nd floor, 16 Kofo Abayomi Street Lagos, Nigeria

The BBQ wings tasted sweet and nice. The prawn curry was also a lovely dish and their customer service was alright.

14. Rufus & Bee

Address: Twinwaters Entertainment Center, Okunde Bluewater Scheme (Off Remi Olowude Street), Lekki 1 Lagos, Nigeria

Both dishes tasted great and were very filling as the portions were quite big. On the other hand, the customer service wasn’t the best and the food took a long time to come.

15. Angle Villa

Address: Angle villa, 1 Ogbunike Street (off Wole Olateju crescent), Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria

Smoked Chicken Stir Fry Pasta

The chicken pasta was a pleasant dish with the correct amount of spice. The service was ok.

16. Prime Chinese Restaurant

Address: Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria

Singapore Noodles, Special Fried Rice & Diced Chicken & Vegetables

The food was average and edible. The service was poor and the food took over an hour to come.

17. Danfo Bistro

Address: 2 Alexander way, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria

Ewa Agoyin, Agege Bread & Beef

This dish was absolutely delicious!! I’d highly recommend it if you’re a fan of beans. The bread was soft and warm and the plantain wasn’t too oily. However, their service was poor and the staff were inattentive.

18. Glover Court Suya / University of Suya

Address: Glover Court (off Glover Road), Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria / 113 Allen Ave, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria

Suya with tomatoes, onion and pepper is a must when you visit Lagos. If you’re on the island, visit Glover Court Suya and if you’re on the mainland, then go to University of Suya.

19. The Place Restaurant

Address: 1 Alfred Rewane Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria

Pounded Yam with Efo riro and fish

The dish tasted authentic and was satisfying. The stew was a bit too oily for me but then again, that’s Nigerian food for you.

20. Bukka Hut

Address: Block 69A, Plot 8 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, Nigeria

Spaghetti with Plantain & Chicken

This meal was decent and filling. The peppered sauce that came with the chicken added flavour to the dish, making it satisfactory.
