BLUE MOON RESORT - Trips With Debs

After thorough research and reading many reviews of the different islands in Zanzibar, we decided to equally split our holiday between Nungwi and Jambiani island. Nungwi is a popular tourist destination and is located in the northern region of the Zanzibar Island. Jambiani, on the other hand is much quieter and is an old fishing village situated on the southeast coast of Zanzibar.

Staying at the Blue Moon resort was probably one of the best experiences I’ve had at a hotel. The resort is owned by a lovely Italian lady who was very welcoming and friendly. The contemporary hut designed resort encompasses all the style and comfort you would expect from a chic boutique hotel.

The road leading up to the resort is quite bad, so be prepared for a very bumpy ride. It’s a little isolated and is some way from the nearest village.

The closest airport to the resort is Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, approximately 27 miles away which is about 1hr 30 mins away. You can contact the hotel to book your transfer or through Lukman transfers which is a chauffeur service I used in Zanzibar that you could hire for all your excursions during your stay.

Facilities include:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Beachfront
  • Private beach area
  • Outdoor swimming pool
  • Restaurant / Bar
  • Airport shuttle (additional charge)

I stayed in the suite with a private pool which was spacious and is 1614 ft². Although it’s not your typical suite of a 5* luxury hotel, the room and bathroom are maintained to a modern and high-quality standard. The bed wasn’t the comfiest as the mattress was stiff and rigid.

Room Facilities include:

  • Safety deposit box
  • Housekeeping
  • Air – conditioning
  • Flat Screen Smart TV (with Netflix)
  • Fridge & Mini bar
  • Kettle
  • Towels, Bathrobes & Free toiletries
  • Bedside lamps & Plug

Breakfast, Lunch and dinner are all served at designated times. The is no buffet restaurant so you have to place an order for your food. There is a selection of food and drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) to choose from.

The staff were so polite and friendly. Regardless of my constant requests, nothing was too much trouble for them. They maintained a professional and positive attitude at all times.  From checking in to checking out, the service was absolutely incredible. I arrived in as a guest and I left as a friend.

If you’re looking for total relaxation and a serene, tranquil experience, then look no further, Blue Moon Resort is the place to stay. I’d highly recommend the suite with the private pool especially for couples / honeymooners as it’s a little secluded and you can enjoy some privacy.
